For the WPC 2013 Video Competition, we received a whopping 113 submissions from 18 countries! We were overwhelmed by the outstanding response and it was a difficult decision to choose their favorite videos. Therefore we introduced the People's Choice Award from the Top 12 videos selected by the judges. The global community was invited to vote for their favorite video and surprisingly the winner of the Grand Prize was also the winner of the People's Choice Award! At the WPC 2013, we showed the Top 12 videos before sessions and dedicated a space in the Exhibition Hall for the Creativity & PD Theater, where our coordinator, Sharon Stone, held discussions and panels with invited videographers.
The World Parkinson Coalition launched the Global Parkinson's Pledge on September 28, 2010 at the Opening Ceremony of the WPC 2010. This competition is about the Parkinson's Pledge. We are looking for people who have already signed the pledge or people who will sign the pledge to tell the world, in one minute or less, why they signed the pledge or why they are going to sign the pledge.
This competition is about raising awareness, getting people involved, and having a little fun at the same time. Videos were submitted by many people who support signing the pledge, whether a person with PD, care partner, researcher, clinician, friend...
Nearly 50 people from 15 countries submitted videos. All of them were excellent in their own right and we are honored and pleased to receive these very moving, educational, and diverse submissions from people with Parkinson's, caregivers, friends, and researchers.
